The Changing Role of Iran in the Clash Between Azerbaijan and Armenia
There’s something interesting with what I read today. As the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia has again erupted, with Turkey showing immediate bias towards Azerbaijan, some expect a 2 + 2 + 1 alliance formula to be seen in the future of the conflict in the Caucasus: Azerbaijan and Turkey versus Armenia and Iran, with Russia acting as a mediator but showing bias towards Armenia.
Looking at it, Iran may be defending itself from the militias stationed a stone’s throw away from its borders by showing some degree of sympathy with Azerbaijan and its ally Turkey. If you can dig deep with me in this issue, It’s Like the Fatemiyoun and Zainabiyoun militias, which Iran brought from Afghanistan and Pakistan, respectively, to fight the Syrian opposition, these groups are sufficiently combat-ready to participate in guerrilla warfare within Iran.
